Gravel (Crushed Rock)

River Sand Inc. has been a leading gravel and stone supplier in North Georgia and Greater Atlanta for more than two decades.  Our reference to gravel is separate from our river rock and pea gravel products. We provide gravel to residential, commercial, and industrial projects such as concrete ready-mix, roads, bridges, water and sewer systems, construction entrances, driveways, drainage, bioretention ponds and many other applications.

Gravel refers to many different sizes and types of rock that is sized for its appropriate function whether that be for your driveway, drainage, foundation base, or another project.  In North Georgia, most of the gravel is composed of granite.  It varies in color but usually ranges in different shades of light to dark grey.

There are a range of different types of gravels that are sorted by sizes.  Here is a summary of sizes from largest to smallest:  Rip rap, Baby Surge, #34s, #4s, #5s, #56s, #57s, #67s, #7s, #89s.  Crusher run or GAB is a mixture of various size gravel along with sand to create a compactable material often used for road base.  M10s is the smallest fraction of product below #89s but is actually sand and not gravel.

Driveway Gravel

We can deliver our gravel in a spreader truck at no additional charge, to save you labor costs after delivery. Our most popular gravel products include:

  • #57 Crushed Stone – Crushed granite is perfect for driveways and french drains
  • Crusher Run – Because crusher run provides a hard surface, it is most commonly used as a base for roads or in parking pads.
  • #4 Gravel – This stone is screened to ensure proper size allocation from larger stones to granular sizes.  The larger sized stones work great for recently graded areas than need gravel on top of the exposed red clay (keep in mind it is difficult for small cars to drive through this type of gravel until it compacts).  It is most commonly used for construction entrances as well.
